In Cala Llonga itself there is plenty to amuse the family with the beautiful sheltered beach, restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping. The main Ibiza golf course is within a mile of the resort and there are mini amusement parks for the kids as well as a fantastic wooden playground built directly on the beach.
For visitors wishing to explore further afield a daily bus or ferry boat will take you to nearby Santa Eulalia, and Ibiza Town is only 15 minutes drive away along a beautiful coastal road.
Car hire in Ibiza is common place and there are a number of car hire companies to choose from. You may collect the vehicle from the Ibiza airport on your arrival or from nearby Santa Eulalia or Ibiza town. With a car the island of Ibiza is yours to explore and there is plenty to see and do.
Ibiza Old Town, Dalt Vila (which means High Town), is well worth a visit, although we would recommending parking up and exploring the area on foot. Be sure to wear sensible shoes as the narrow, winding streets are largely cobbled and some are very steep, particularly those leading up to the main entrance and drawbridge. Here you can explore and see first hand traditional Ibiza life, some of which remains genuinely unchanged and some kept that way for the appeal of the tourists. Either way, not only are you walking through history but you are doing so in a beautiful setting.
Of course a holiday to Ibiza would not be complete without a visit to the hippy markets. The one held at Es Cana every Wednesday from 10.00am to 7.00pm is perhaps the best known and is certainly the most accessible from Cala Llonga being nearby Santa Eulalia. Still featuring a few of the original hippies (all be it with a few more grey hairs and wrinkles) the market has an outstanding selection of wares including silver and jewellery trinkets from East Asia, batik wraps and clothing and even tailor made moccasins. However, many visitors feel that it is worth a longer trip up to the Saturday market held in San Carlos (North East of the island) which supposedly has a more traditional feel to it and a greater selection of hand made items and garments.
If you prefer to explore the island in a more organised manner there are a number of organised tours including coach trips and train tours around the island, as well as a good deal of boat trips from one resort to another.
